Project: Strengthening Livelihoods Through Donkey Welfare design

Why good donkey welfare in Ethiopia is not only the right thing to do, but also how it increases GDP, individual household income, food security and greater access to education. Poor welfare threatens all of this, especially for a global donkey population under grave threat from the awful donkey skin trade, which produces 'Ejiao' a collagen typically used in Chinese medicine.

I've just finished designing a report in collaboration with equine charity Brooke, the International Livestock Research Institute, and Global Burden of Animal Diseases. In it we try and illustrate the role donkeys play in day to day life in Ethiopia and why it is essential for policy makers to ensure their population numbers stabilise.
